We are disappointed to have to share with everyone the indefinite postponement of the community event that was being considered by The Windfields Farm Community Group. Below you will find the details that were shared within the group via Conference Call: MEETING MINUTES: Windfields Community Group Conference Call Date: Friday, April 25, 2014 1. Sue McGovern began the meeting by stating that the University felt it was best to indefinitely postpone the community event. However, work for a potential future event could continue if committee members felt it was necessary. Sue notified the committee members that University staff will cease all work on this event. The factors which contributed to indefinitely postponing the event include: The late arrival of spring has left the property not accessible. The university is extremely busy and resources are stretched. The UOIT Communications and Marketing Department has not yet been able to fill the Event Planner position which has left that department short of resources as well. The excessive cost of the event was also a factor and mentioned by both the University and the City of Oshawa. A future event will require advanced fundraising by the Committee. 2. The announcement congratulating the 50th anniversary of Northern Dancer’s win will go out in advance of May 2. The release will be shared with all committee members. 3. Sue McGovern asked all committee members if they had any questions or comments. None were brought forward and the committee members on the call agreed with indefinitely postponing the event.
