We are eating an Austin institution tonight and are meeting friends there for our quarterly get together. Hopefully we can qualify for the senior discount! Ha! If you are not familiar with the restaurant, I have included a link telling the history of Kenneth Threadgills old Gulf filling station and Eddie Wilsons (you might know him as the owner of the Armadillo World Headquarters-I spent many a night there and never could remember how I got home!) saving the day! In between these two our an illustrious and a three term city councilman named Lowell Lebermann had his toes in the water so to speak. Somewhere along the line Wilson decided that the menu should replicate the old menu at the Armadillo World Headquarters and serve a southern style menu. Additionally it was well known that the red necks and long hairs came together at the Armadillo World Headquarters and even managed to eat together in peace with the opening of Threadgills. I am fortune enough to have participated in this magnificent piece of history (yes I am an old fart and was around back then) and can never forget the music and the friendships started during this period of my life! #OnwardThroughTheFog #KeepAustinWeird threadgills/
