We are excited to annouce the winner of our campaign to be Demi Lovatos BFF for a day: 19 year old Emily Doering from Pekin, IL. Emily, a huge fan, will fly to New York with her best friend and meet Demi backstage at her concert this Saturday! Congratulations! When she found out she won, Emily had this to say: I found out about Omaze through Demi Lovatos official Facebook page. I logged onto Facebook one day and the notice about the contest was the first thing in my news feed. I read about the charity Demi was helping and decided to help with a small donation. Even though I felt I had no chance of winning the contest, I hoped my small donation would help the Tyler Clementi Foundation with their efforts. If they can help even one person get beyond the pain of bullying or convince even one person to stop bullying they can make a huge difference in many other peoples lives. I was bullied in grade school and in high school I was the type of person who could easily be taken advantage of. I was constantly trying to fit in. Two of my closest friends who are a part of the LGBT community helped me to realize that I didnt want to fit in and that I needed to be “me”. The Tyler Clementi Foundation can be these “friends” to many people and I was glad to help with their cause and heck having a chance to spend the day with Demi was just an added bonus. Wow, what a bonus it turned out to be. I have grown up with Demi through Barney and Friends, Camp Rock, Sonny With a Chance, X Factor and Glee. I love her music and many of the lyrics hit close to home with me. I am thrilled to meet someone who can prove that we can face trials and come out even stronger for them. I can relate to this from some of my own experiences and cannot tell you how excited I am to spend the day with her.
