We are excited to announce that our next Toast-Good Food Here pop-up dinner is a GastroPub & Craft Beer long table feast to be held on Saturday 5 April 2014. Date: Saturday 5 April 2014 Time: early evening, to be confirmed Venue: Johannesburg, exact space to be confirmed Price: R650 per person, including drinks (see proposed menu on our timeline) Bookings: In order to secure your spot out our table, please contact me directly (Riaan at [email protected]). Set-up: long table (possibly outdoors) According to Wikipedia, the term gastropub originated in the UK in the late 20th century. The phenomenon took off in the United States in the early 1990s and was introduced locally much more recently, almost as if hand-in-hand with the exponential growth in popularity of the craft beer concept. Typically, a craft brewery or microbrewery is one that produces a limited amount of beer. Such breweries are generally characterised by their emphasis on flavour and brewing technique. Once again as per Wikepedia, the microbrewing movement began in the United Kingdom in the 1970s and subsequently spread to other countries. It has only been over the past decade that the craft brewery concept has really gained momentum locally, and today you will find craft breweries dotted all over the country. Toast-Good Food Here proudly brings you the pop-up version of the GastroPub concept. Chef Tony has painstakingly compiled a multi-course menu for our pop-up dinner to be offered with craft beer, which have been earlier posted on our facebook timeline.
