We are excited to introduce the work of Lora Rust here at Mark of the Potter. Loras years of work spent developing her unique style must be experienced both visually and texturally. We like to say that there is a little bit of the potter in every piece they create. Loras work exemplifies that statement. Loras Artist Statement: As a ceramic artist my goal is to bring a touch of artistry and elegance to the kitchen, dinner table or anywhere in the home. Working in porcelain, my stylized technique is a unique process of striking and moving the clay with handmade wooden tools. No clay is added, removed or carved away to create the textures.The designs and patterns found in Gothic Architecture mixed with the fluidity of the Art Nouveau period are strong influences for my work. Inspiration from fashion design helps capture a certain movement to the texture on the form. My hope is to create forms with a lush and fluid texture that beg to be touched.
