We are finally adding the padded floors and enrichment to the flight enclosures! Photo #1 shows the fruit bats flight area with the final layer of floor padding being laid before waterproof laminated polyester goes down. Light can be seen coming through a door in the background. That door is actually inside the insect bats flight enclosure. The door in the foreground opens into the bay where a free-standing semi-outdoor flight area will be built. The two flight areas are separated by a hallway (photo #2). Photo #3 shows the smallest enclosure which is the quarantine cage. In this photo the laminated polyester is ready to be secured to the walls (which will get rid of the creases). The floors of all the enclosures are padded for bats who may accidentally fall, which is common with the elderly bats we receive from zoos.
