We are finally back from a VERY long day in Houston. Overall, I feel extremely encouraged by everything I heard today. My scans came back clear, with the exception of one 5 cm spot on an ovary that he said might just be a cyst. After my foot is taken care of I will be referred to the Gyn. Dept. at MDA so they can look into that and make sure it’s not abnormal growth. Either way, he said it’s not related to the cancer on my foot, which means those cells haven’t spread to any of my organs. PRAISE GOD!! You can’t imagine how good it was to hear that report!! The only other real concern is whether it has spread to my lymph nodes, which seems to be this cancer’s place of choice from the very limited research they have on it, so please continue to pray that those results will also come back clear. They’ll test that Wednesday when they do the surgery. As for the surgery itself, I got good news there, too. First of all, I should leave with two feet! Praise, praise, PRAISE!! And secondly, depending on how much of my heel the surgeon has to remove, the plastic surgeon is pretty confident that he will be able to do a skin graft as opposed to a skin flap. This means his part of the surgery will only be around an hour as opposed to 8 hours, and my time recovering in the hospital will only be 1-3 days as opposed to 7!! SO AMAZINGLY THANKFUL for that!!! And … and … (are you ready for this?!) he’s going to use belly skin for the graft, so I’ll get a mini-tummy tuck! But that also means I’ll be the only person in the world with stretch marks on my foot, so go figure. ;) There are no words to express how grateful I am for each of you who has prayed, sent an encouraging message, and/or offered to provide transportation, child care, meals, house cleaning, lawn mowing, car washing, dog feeding … even homeschooling the girls! Greg and I have both felt bathed in prayer and lavished with love. It has truly been phenomenal to see the body of Christ at work! Please keep praying – God hears our prayers and loves us!!
