We are getting loads of email about the Khom Loy hot air lantern release in Mae Jo on Nov. 8. People are requesting tickets for this event. The actual Khom Loy release is Nov. 1 and is free and the one on Nov. 8 is for tourists. The release on Nov. 1 is at the temple and temples cannot charge for entry. The release on Nov. 8 is staged for tourists and thousands of foreigners in tour buses will attend. Here is the video of the traditional Khom Loy release. Notice there are no tourists but Thai people, Buddhist prayers and traditional respect for elders which will not happen on Nov. 8 for tourists.
