We are getting lots of questions about the pigs we have for adoption so here is all the info you need ;) The main question we are getting is How big will they get we dont know...and anyone who guarantees you a weight when buying a pig is lying. Pigs can take after parents...grandparents even great grandparents in weight. And these are rescues...we dont see their family they were breed from. We are actively seeking FOREVER homes for some of our AMAZING pigs. If you have been thinking of adoption now is the time!!!! Here are some GREAT sites to make sure being a pig parent is for you!! pigpalssanctuary/ potbellypigs/right_pet_for_you.htm Teacuppig.info We are going to be getting all of our pigs here neutered/spayed and current shots and want to get these amazing creatures into forever homes ASAP. He was left to die in a Daytona shelter until our friend saw him and got him out of here and on the way to HHPR! If interested our requirements are: -You must have vet references and have a potbelly pig vet set up. -You have to have a fenced in area and housing set up for your new edition and your entire family must be on board. Pigs are not pets to be taken lightly and we make sure you are ready for this responsibility and you are welcome out and see exactly what having a pig entails and come spend time with your pig to begin bonding and if you have other pets they need to meet to make sure they will get along. -If you already have a pig they must be neutered or spayed and current vaccinations to adopt one of ours and we will help in anyway we can to get your pigs aquatinted ..you can not just throw two new pigs together and expect everything to be ok. And you MUST be zoned for having a pet pig with your county or city. -We do have an adoption contract to ensure our pigs are taken care of after they leave here..many of these pigs were dumped by their former family and have been thru alot to become the sweet adoptable pets they are today and we do not want the same thing to happen again. Our pigs are spayed or neutered..vaccinated and we will help you every step of the way ;) If you meet all these requirements and would like an adoption app to hold your piglet or pig you can email us at the address below. Our adoption fee can be discussed if interested but we do ONLY charge what our vet bill is to neuter/spay and vaccinated your pig.(ranges 150.00-200.00) We make no money off these adorable pigs and just want them in great homes. If you can not adopt and would like to sponsor and help our pigs that live here forever with their vetting..feed...housing..etc we always appreciate ANY donation for our 47 rescues at Paypal at Happyhoovesrescuepigs@gmail For more information or questions please PM us or email us at: happyhoovesrescuepigs@gmail. Here is also some informations on owning a mini potbelly pig: We are a pig sanctuary in upstate SC. There are hundreds of back yard breeders popping up and 1000s of pigs needing homes. A mini pig is a great pet..after RESEARCH. People can not promise a weight..it depends on feeding and raising. Mini pigs typically get to 50-200lbs. Pigs grow until 4-5 years old and are a 20 year commitment. They are the in thing to have right now and people are buying spur of the moment. They are cute and cuddly at 6 weeks but by a year you have a big..smart..pig with a 2 year old child attitude! Most vets do not see potbellies and they have to be fixed to be a pet. Females get tumors if not spayed and boys make horrible pets if not neutered.pigs do not like change and grieve horribly when rehomed because they got too big or people no longer have time for them. Adopt!! Do not buy from breeders..and do not pay 100s for a micro or teacup they do not exist!!! They are only called minis in comparison to a farm pig. We are a pig rescue with years of experience and 47 rescues. Im including some great sites for people to RESEARCH what they are getting into..these is not a pet you should get without being prepared..its not fair to you or the pig!! Always ask how OLD are the parents..breeders showing to 30-40lb parents..those parents are normaly young pigs themselves and not finished growing! We encourage visitors to visit and see what a pig requires before bringing one in your home. Always be prepared for a 100+ lb pet..90% of the time thats what you are getting. 100lb pig is STILL a mini and actually not a large pet and carry their weight differently then a 100lb dog. if your MAIN concern is your pig not getting big or having to stay a certain weight owning a pig may not be for you. I have 30 rescues that are 150+ lbs sold as minis who would stay under 10 lbs.
