We are going on our Sunday hike up Runyon this am, with Dobby and a few Friends. Then Spin Cycle House at 2:00. I have been thinking about how to address something about USA Diving in a positive way. We had a great Olympics in London, one silver, two bronze and a gold! But that was then and this is now. I have been viewing results from the International competitions, and we arent doing so hot. One thing Dr. Sammy Lee taught me as a very young boy, always look beyond the boarders of your country, at the time it was Klaus Dibiasi form Italy was the one to beat. All our training at age 15 in preparation for the next year was to beat Klaus, and our training reflected that challenge. I urge our USA Diving coaches look beyond our Nationals to gain the success we had back in the day. It is the World chasing China at the moment, and Mexico is closing in as well. In working with the USOC, their charter is to reward performance and you should know they are watching those results as well. My concern is we only have two years to get a team of athletes ready for Rio 2016, we need to start looking ahead. We know the dives we need to be doing to be competitive, and we need to be able to do those dives for 9s or better to compete, 7s are not going to cut it. Just something to think about as we move forward. I share this concern with love and pride, the time is now to start planning and having the mindset to get on the podium in Olympic Rio. In Dog Agility, Susan Garrett Dog Agility Training, my mentor in that world looked to the UK in Greg Derrett, for team Canada to be successful, and reached to me to be the Mental Prep Coach, very forward thinking which brought success for them at the Worlds. To grow we need to challenge our perceived limits, and as I continued my training with Ron OBrien, we were challenging those limits of breaking new ground beyond the rest of the world, to break the 700 point barrier on first springboard, and then on Platform, which we did together, with playing games in training, sometimes I was successful and sometimes not. Just something to think about. Namaste, Greg
