We are happy to report that Shibby, the cat missing out route 864 - TopicsExpress

We are happy to report that Shibby, the cat missing out route 864 in the Picture Rocks area is home safe, and warm tonight!!!! After two long weeks, one being sub zero temps, she is home. And now for her story. Shibbys owner was moving out, and she got out the door. Worst nightmare for anyone. He did not know what to do. A week in, he called the Lycoming County S.P.C.A. and was told about Bellabons. We were in sub zero temps with snow, sleet and freezing rain, but we went to work. First was permission to go on the land and work, and then it was time to get food out there to her. The first couple days were horrible because we had snow and very bad road conditions but we supplied her with enough food to get her through. Then came time to make sure she was still there, and alive. FINALLY, when reading the trail cam card Friday evening, there she was on Thursday, the same time as Wednesday. The next pictures confirmed her feeding time. The pictures were forwarded to her owner to be confirmed it was indeed her, and it was!! It was way too late Friday night to get a trap out there, but we assured her owner that she was there, eating, and we would get her. Saturday we went there to set up in time for Shibbys arrival to eat. The trap just wasnt opening wide enough to entice her in so we monitored until about 9:30 pm, and knew we couldnt get her that night so we set her out some food just in case and planned to get a different trap out there tonight. By that time we knew her schedule. She would come out between 4:30 and 5:45 to eat, then hide out for the night, more than likely trying to stay warm. The temp was 3 degrees when we were out there last night :( We set out today to find a trap that would work for her and I guess we found that trap! :) We set up by 4:30 pm tonight and got out of there. We planned on checking about 6 pm because at least tonight the temps were in the 20s and that felt like a heat compared to what it has been. We arrived to check the trap at 6 pm with the spotlight and saw her eyes!!! What joy!! We went to the trap as she was trying with her paw to get out, but she wasnt going anywhere. She then started at the back of the trap and rammed the door with her head. Right away Tina grabbed the pine branches to cover the front while I ran to the car to get a blanket. We covered her up good and loaded her into my car for her trip home. We pulled our camera, all the things we used to set up, and off we went. Shibby was safe :) We are getting another storm after midnight tonight so not a day too soon. You see, this is in the country, over a one lane wooden bridge and down the lane to the house that sits back in. At any given time it was at least 5 degrees colder back in there. I want to first thank Tina Oberdorf for always being there for me, and being there to help, and share the joy of saving Shibby. It was a very dark, desolate place and for me to go back there myself wasnt good. If I would have gotten stuck, or broke down, I would have been there till morning when the loggers arrived! VERY spotty service, and snow and ice everywhere. But Tina pulled through and helped with yet another recovery :) Tina gets right in there and helps with everything, and never complains or never runs into something she wont do. I am proud to call her my friend. I want to thank Mr Reese for loaning us his trap on such short notice. We have only met him a few times while looking for one of the lost dogs on the page, but he didnt bat an eye, and loaned us his trap. I cannot wait to thank him in person tomorrow. :) Thank you to the Lycoming County S.P.C.A. for guiding people to someone who can help them, and thank you for your faith in Bellabons. And last, but not least, thank you all for sharing and caring. :) WELCOME HOME SHIBBY!!!!
