We are having another “Dine Out” Day, this time for Jon Jon Lorenz, on Monday, October 20. We would like to extend an invitation for you to participate in this community-wide day of giving. Jon Jon is a 7-year-old boy who attends Wilson Elementary. He was diagnosed with an inoperable, cancerous brain tumor one year ago. The prognosis is not good. Because of the location of this tumor, surgery/traditional chemotherapy is not an option. DIPG effects approximately 300 children annually. There is no known cure. Jon Jon is a happy boy who is facing life with an amazing show of courage and strength, despite what he has gone through over the past year. He has undergone 30 sessions of radiation, a clinical trial at Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital in New York, and another trial at CHOC in Orange. He has had gamma knife surgery and is currently receiving infusion treatments at CHOC. Since there is no known treatment which stops the growth of his tumor, Jons parents are supplementing strict dietary changes to enhance Jons quality of life. Jon Jons journey is far from being over, and the cost of his medical costs/needs are mounting.
