We are having growing pains at work. My boss and I can no longer avoid creating a bureaucratic element within our SharePoint Community. We had planned for about 35 extranet members, but now the number has exceeded 100. Many of our new extranet members are retail customers or vendors outside our organizations traditional core areas of financial services. Our SharePoint Community has grown so quickly that our project team can no longer DIRECTLY accept orders for SharePoint web parts and apps from our many extranet members. We encourage our SharePoint extranet members to continue ordering new SharePoint web parts and apps, but we ask they do so INDIRECTLY, only through their designated intranet partners. Our extranet members are already very familiar with their intranet partners, their sponsors in the SharePoint Community. Intranet partners have team sites and individual member sites, blogs and wikis. They are familiar with the business needs of their extranet clients. Intranet partners will provide guidance on the suitability of the app in ALM (Application Lifecycle Management), if appropriate. The intranet partners power users can often recommend alternative no code solutions. In languages other than English, partnership between same-language members is crucial. Fulfillment will remain very fast overall, because requests received internally have the capability of faster completion using our hybrid on-premises SharePoint 2013. This procedure is already used by over 80% of our extranet members. Fortunately, SharePoint makes collaboration between experienced professionals a pleasure. Intranet partner approval for apps can be routinely handled in as little as two minutes. Our SharePoint Community, extranet and intranet, are friends as well as colleagues, creating the most efficient solutions together. Two heads are better than one. Our development team accepts orders as is. We assume proof of concept stage has been completed before the order. We accept media link addresses as given to us. If an image is incorrect, we would not know it. We have no time to proof embedded videos. We want to prevent the necessity for making numerous changes to web parts and apps after fulfillment.
