We are home from a day in Frankfort, legislative committee meetings in Lexington and the Ohio County Chamber of Commerces Candidates Forum at the Ohio County High School. The committees heard a presentation on UKs impact on the economy of Kentucky and the health of our citizens. Dr. Eli Capilouto, UK President, and Dr. Michael Karpf, V. President for Health Affairs at UK, made the presentation. Beth Brinly, Commissioner of the Department of Workforce Investment, Education and Workforce Development Cabinet, give us a Workforce Investment Update. The Interim Joint Committee on Economic Development and Tourism and the Interim Joint Committee on Labor and Industry met together at UK. They will meet together again November 20th in Frankfort. Today we had 28 of our 46 Economic Development and Tourism committee members present and 19 of our 30 Labor and Industry Committee members present. There are a few, like myself, who are members of both committees. 55 guests also attended todays committee meetings.
