We are honored to welcome back Edwin Rivera as one of our instructors and performers at the 2014 Boracay International Dance Festival! Edwin is one of the major stars on the world’s Salsa dance & music scene. Of Puerto Rican origin, Edwin was born & raised in the Bronx, New York. Now residing in Los Angeles CA, Edwin is one of the most popular dance-personalities in the world, especially in South America after participating in the local version of the popular television show Let’s Dance, Rojo Fama Contrafama. He starred as Roberto Roena/Cheetah Solo Dancer in the movie ‘El Cantante’ with Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez. The film is about the career of the Latin icon, Puerto Rican Salsa singer Héctor Lavoe. Edwin is also the organizer of the only Children & Teen Salsa Congress in the world, and will also be releasing his album in March 2013 called M.I.M.E (Music Is My Everything). Edwin Rivera is highly recognized for his performing, teaching and choreography skills. His ability to explain the most intricate of details, impeccable teaching techniques and amicable personality are some of the reasons why he has become one of the most sought after instructors. Edwin took his first dancing lessons in 1997 and formed his own dance company in 2002, The Edwin Rivera Project. Edwin himself attributes all of his success to his mentor, the late David Melendez, Organizer of the New York International Salsa Congress & Creative Director of the 2005 First Philippine International Salsa Congress. He says: “I am the man that I am today because of you. Everything that I do will be in your honor." Edwin is a man of modesty who doesn’t like to talk much about himself, but rather what he loves: “Music & Dance is what truly reflects and defines who I am, my given moods, my hopes, my desires, my dreams and even my fears.” BREAKING NEWS! his latest album, "M.I.M.E- Music.Is.My.Everything" is one of the top independent albums of the week on ITUNES this week! Way to go Edwin, we are so proud of you! Welcome back to the family! Mabuhay! boracayintldancefest
