We are in Getting To Know Jesus – Volume 12, Lesson 149, pages 38-51. In Matthew, 27:15-23a; Mark 15:6-14a; Luke 23:12-22 and John 18:39, Jesus is sent back to Pilate to be condemned. Pilate was a coward who was afraid to stand up to the pressure of the mob. The religious leaders (not all of them, but those present at this event) were corrupt. They wanted Jesus crucified so badly that they would lie, threaten, intimidate, stir up the crowd, etc. to get their way. In contrast, Jesus is courageous enough to withstand all of this abuse and stay on course to what God called Him to do (for you and me). Can you call a situation where you have had to be courageous in your walk with Jesus? Have you had to fight corruption, deal with cowards and intimidation?
