We are in Paro Bhutan. Most of our group just took the 5 hour hike to the Tigers Nest … I am so disappointed that I could not make the hike … I am exhausted :( 5 hours up and 3 hours back down is what it takes most people .. I am not even sure i could have made it even if I wasn’t so tired. I am sitting in a beautiful Bhutanese hotel call the Zhiwa Ling, looking over a river onto a giant rock face on one of the ridges .. the next ridge over is on fire and there is a white haze from the smoke all over the valley. Last evening I could see the red glow from my hotel balcony.. I took a walk just to the other side of the property where i could see the flames and watch it jump from one ridge to the next.. the people here take it in stride “it happens” is about all they say. We were reassured that it will only burn for a few days, that it is natural and it is healthy for the forest. The Bhutanese people are so calm, what will be will be is how they live each day… each moment.
