We are just coming up for air after an incredible day at Pure Running Laganside 10k. Massive well done to Matt Shields and all the North Belfast Harriers team and volunteers for an amazing effort in putting on such a great event. 1.15pm seen the 1 mile kids race with 200 running. There were smiles all round as 5 year olds up to 14 years old ran around Ormeau park. We ran with some of the family in this race - pure magic seeing the joy on a 6 year olds face as he passes fellow runners on the home straight. Stars of the future!! 2pm The main event hit and sold out at 1000 capacity. Fantastic wins for Eddie McGinley Annadale Striders and Kerry Harty Newcastle AC in these NI Championships 10k. Many of the kids stayed and watched these two stars burn up the course. Inspirational stuff! Well done to both :-) For everyone who ran today,crossed the finish line and claimed a medal,huge congratulations! It was hot out there and everyone worked so hard - you could see it in peoples faces throughout the race. Well done to all 1000 finishers #BigRespect Finally, official charity were NI Hospice - thanks to everyone who donated,its an amazing cause. We hope you all enjoyed it, whether you were 5 or 75.
