We are living in a day and age where everyone lies. Whether it be big or small, everyone lies one way or another. Whether it is to please someone, protect someone, gain something or escape something. Lies are widespread. But it is such an indecent act. It is such a great sin. Because the one who lies may feel like he is deceiving the one who is being lied to, maybe he is is successful in deceiving this person, but he will never be able to deceive Allãh. When Shaytaan whispers to you and prods at you so that you may lie, think about the fact that Allãh is All Aware of what you say and do. Consider the fact that this lie will catch up with you. There is no success in lying. For it causes nothing but doubt, anxiety and it leads towards the path of Jahannam. Lying is impermissible to such an extent that when The Prophet SalAllaahu alayhi wa Sallam married Aishah RA and welcomed her in to his home, when her friends were offered the milk and they refused out of modesty saying that they did not wish to drink at that very moment, The Prophet salAllãhu alayhi wa sallam said, Do not lie, as each lie a person speaks is written against him. SubhanAllãh! Thats something which we must reflect over! Always stick to the path of honesty. All it takes is one lie to spin a web. Honesty is the only way forward.
