We are looking at finally abandoning our billing system. Weve been using the same system since 2004. Its been a great billing system for the last 10 years, unfortunately, we havent seen an update to the software in over 2 years. The AWBS system is a powerful front end to server provisioning and billing automation, but the project seems to be dead (its great they have answered a few support tickets, but there is no road map available regarding any updates that may be coming out ever). Weve been avoiding the change to a different billing system due to the teething typically required for customers. Its not fun to try to get used to new things, its not for us either. Frankly, the administrative aspects of AWBS offer us powerful features that are always within reach anywhere we are at in the admin panel. The front end has become increasingly complicated over the years. And at this point, several key features we need simply do not work anymore. We will be evaluating billing softwares over the next few weeks and see if we can find something that we can be proud of putting in front of our customers. Most billing systems available currently offer a full import system, so we anticipate that from a data perspective- the change will go smoothly. The difficult part is ensuring our site design can also be imported, without to much pain, to provide the smoothest transition to a new system.
