We are looking at the need for purchasing SCBAs for our fire department. I asked to borrow one from Anderson VFD this afternoon since they have a like model we are interested in purchasing. I flipped over to Andersons Radio Channel and asked if one of their members could meet me at their station. Wayne Davis hopped on the radio and said he would meet me there. As I was returning the SCBA Unit back to Anderson, Wayne met me at the station. He and I started talking. I asked him how long he had been in the fire service here in Eastern Lauderdale County. He said 27 years. I started in 1983 but I can always remember hearing Wayne on many calls throughout my 30 years. Wayne is a true community volunteer. He helps three volunteer fire departments with that being Elgin, Anderson and Lexington. Usually youll hear Wayne as the first arriving firefighter on the scene giving an update or size up of the incident. I just wanted to point out Waynes service to our area. Not many around like him anymore. 27 years. Great job Wayne. Keep up the good work. The folks in Anderson, Lexington and Elgin should be proud.
