We are not beaten by SMA.(Spinal Muscular Atrophy) Today, Branden visited his Rehab and Neuro doctors. I always dread these visits as I worry for the worst especially on the development of his muscles and bone structures. 2 years ago, Branden could not lift up his hands to touch his head, could not kick or pull his legs. His muscles were weakening. He was on feeding tube and his weight was stagnant. Today, the doctors were all smiles and happy. Not only he could lift his hands to touch his head, he could.pull his legs towards himself. From zero, doctor gave 2points for that test. For his hands he scored 3 out of 5! He could sit without support for a short while, 2 years infraction free,means no hospitalisation. 1year free from tube feeding. From 70% of food intake by tube, he now chews nuts and 100% on solids. We dont know what else to ask for except to let him continue to thrive and not be beaten by this disease. We can only celebrate his achievement which may seem small but its huge to this little fella.
