We are not deterred – PDM Thursday, 14 November 2013 But leaders of the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) which registered as a political party said it is not deterred by the position taken by the other leaders of the movement. A press statement issued in Abuja yesterday by the media adviser to the national chairman of the party, Alaba Yusuf, and signed by Ambassador Yahaya Kwande and 43 other leaders of the party across the federation indicated that the party is not deterred by any hurdles from any quarters as it is putting in place structures and mechanism capable of deepening democracy in the country. “Some people have alleged they have not been consulted before this was done. What we would like to know is, do those making this claim have a higher stake in PDM than us? Is PDM a secret club or is it only an instrument for feathering some members’ nest? Why is anyone afraid that PDM is now open to all Nigerians rather than a very small group? Where were these self-appointed PDM leaders all this time when the organization and its members fell on hard times? Why didn’t we hear their voice or see them meet before now, for over a decade?” it said. The party said time has come for those who truly believe in PDM as a political party to take a stand adding that to insist on being a member of PDP and PDM at the same time would “amount to fraud”. The party said those who are parading themselves as leaders of PDM are aggrieved members of the PDP who have lost focus and should be arrested immediately by the security operatives as they are “sponsored” to cause mischief and derail democratic process and socio-economic development of the nation.
