We are now being forced to wake up from our present dysfunctional cultural herd and herding mentality. Herding means a domination way of life; it is the essential expression of the Culture of Death. Before that we were gatherers. Prior to herding, found 10,000 years ago, the sacred feminine was very strong, meaning there was an acknowledgment of respect for mothers of all animals. In order to confine animals and kill animals for food, humans must go into a state of denial. The shadow must come so strongly that we cannot see the connection. The denial of living in the Culture of Death is so strong that our intuition is blocked. Herding consciousness takes us toward materialism, disconnectedness, and potential violence, which is the essence of ego. From the Essene point of view we use the word satan. Satan is not some guy running around with a pitchfork and a red suit. Satan is really the metaphor for the ego. It is an internal state. It is from that violence and materialism in which humans, as well as animals, are reduced to objects and products and valued by how much money they can make for those in power. The shift that needs to happen is just that: As we shift to a plant-source-only diet, we begin to shift to a diet of consciousness and Culture of Life and Liberation, away from domination and the Culture of Death.
