We are on our way home after an energizing day that I wont soon - TopicsExpress

We are on our way home after an energizing day that I wont soon forget. Not only did I do my first 10K, but was given something from a group of people I respect so deeply. At the end of my race, the gentleman I was walking with and I looked at each other after we beat the hill and ran the last tenth of a mile to the finish line. We charged that and we had Marines cheering us on. Motivating us until the very end. But the best part was when I received my medal. I didnt catch her name, but a First LT put the medal around my neck and she saluted me. Me. Saluted. For walking 6 miles. She doesnt know I am a navy spouse. She doesnt know that I belong to a Gold Star Family. She doesnt know anything about me. But she still stood there and looked me in the eyes as she saluted me for finishing. (Yes, I am starting to cry thinking about this.) It was the most humbling and the most memorable moment of my entire 10k. Will I do this again? Absolutely. I think the only time I wont participate in another Marine Corps Marathon event is if Jay is stationed overseas. And even then, I may make an exception. To the runners and participants this weekend, congratulations on your successes. To the Marines who made this possible, Bravo Zulu for such an amazing event. See you in November for Turkey Trot and then time to start training for the 2015 season! Remember, #RunWiththeMarines! OOOOORAH!
