We are pleased to announce the finalists for the 2014 IDRS Young Artist Oboe competition. These finalists were chosen from a strong field of twenty-one applicants from nine countries: Austria, Germany, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, Korea, Spain, Taiwan, USA, and Venezuela. It was exciting to hear such a talented and diverse group of oboists. The finalists (in alphabetical order) are Joshua Loretig, USA (student of Richard Woodhams), Jesus Morillas Alonso of Spain (student of Christian Schmitt and David Zúñiga Hidalgo) and Emily Moscoso, USA (student of Rebecca Henderson). The alternate selected is William Welter, USA (student of Richard Woodhams). The International Double Reed Society wishes to extend the utmost gratitude to the first-round judges Nicholas Daniel (UK/Germany), Dwight Parry (USA) and Susan Hatch Tomkiewicz (USA). Please plan to attend the final competition on Thursday, August 7th at the conference in New York, NY, USA.
