We are pleased to announce this past September, the Bronzeville - TopicsExpress

We are pleased to announce this past September, the Bronzeville Dream Center made the first steps in adopting the Communities That Care program. Bronzeville Dream Center will use the CTC model in efforts to identify the risks leading to youth health and behavioral issues that have the potential to escalate to violence. CTC is the prevention side of the Dream Center work, which also includes training local faith leaders as first-line responders for people experiencing violence-related trauma. Several dedicated community members and CTC Specialist, Blair Brooke-Weis, joined together for the facilitator training to learn the E-CTC system and how to apply the system to their community. Bright Star Community Outreach, Inc. (BSCO) director and manager of the project, Rodney Carter Jr., led a diverse team for the facilitator training. Participants included: United Way of Metropolitan Chicago, University of Chicago Office of Community Affairs, University of Chicago Center for Community Health and Vitality, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, and two representatives from the UW Center for Communities That Care. We are excited for the Bronzeville Dream Center to conduct the CTC Youth Survey, and start to build their community coalition! Here are some pictures of the team working hard from Septembers’ facilitator training:
