We are presenting invited testimony on Thursday in the Senate General Government committee on the Jordan Cove LNG pipeline. We will be asking the committee to introduce legislation ensuring that the pipeline company share information with the property owners who own land that the pipeline company wants to condemn. Eminent domain is the ultimate power over private property ownership. Congress decided decades ago to give gas pipeline companies the right of eminent domain - the Oregon legislature cant change that. If a pipeline company wants to take someones land through eminent domain, they should be required to inform that property owner of the prices they are paying for pipeline easements on surrounding properties, and what contract terms they are giving the neighboring property owners. Thats what well be asking for.
