We are proud of our Seven Phoenix Union teachers who recently became National Board Certified Teachers: Sunghwan Byun: Math, Metro Tech High School; Carrie Deahl: English, Maryvale High School; Joyce A. Donaldson: English, North High School Phoenix, Arizona; Niki Karandreas: English, Trevor G. Browne High School; Cynthia Maher: ELL, Alhambra; Cristina Yoder: Art, Alhambra High School - Phoenix, AZ; and Sue Wright: Art, Alhambra, who is now at Mesa Red Mountain High School. There are now 31 current NBC Teachers in the District. Considered the teaching profession’s highest honor, it is presented by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards to teachers who demonstrate, through a performance assessment, that they meet the high and rigorous standards for what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do.
