We are rapidly approaching the 10 year anniversary of three brave and determined men from the company were about to depart to the area of Banda Aceh where devastation had took over the country following the Tsunami which had occurred just 38 minutes following Christmas Day! The three senior staff members had fundraised for all they needed and what they needed to take to build a hospital facility and provide medical care to the communities in and around the area. In the background working tirelessly was another staff member who ensured that they had all they needed, packed and advised them regardless of the time of day. I will introduce these brave men over the next few updates, but below is a bit of information about the Tsunami: The undersea megathrust earthquake was caused when the Indian Plate was subducted by the Burma Plate and triggered a series of devastating tsunamis along the coasts of most landmasses bordering the Indian Ocean, killing 230,000 people in 14 countries, and inundating coastal communities with waves up to 30 metres (100 ft) high. It was one of the deadliest natural disasters in recorded history. Indonesia was the hardest-hit country, followed by Sri Lanka, India, and Thailand.
