We are saddened by the demise of a good friend, Tony Hechanova. As former General Manager of Negros Navigation, he was very media-friendly and would provide us free passes to Bacolod and Manila (first class pa). At Treasure Hunt disco where he held court almost every night, he would usually greet us with a bottle of JW Black. When he was appointed OIC Mayor of Iloilo City and did such an outstanding job there was a clamor for him to run for office. He was too wary of dirty politics, however. Too bad. Iloilo would have been way different, far more progressive, had Tony H become mayor even for a term or two. Farewell, my friend. / Benjie Guevarra
