We are seeing the first signs of Veráison (technically, the softening of grape berries, accompanied by color change), with 40% color change at Gloria’s higher location and and less than 10% in lower areas. Because of the cool and extremely humid growing environment this year, powdery mildew disease pressure is the highest we’ve seen in years. Thanks to our decision to precisely remove leaves around individual clusters just after berry set (late May) in anticipation of West Countys typical early summer pattern of June Gloom, weve been able to remain steadfast with our commitment to use only organic fungicides with great success.
