We are slowly cleaning up. London is ruined. Ottershaw is massacred. The home, the countryside, the world, is devastated. At least hundreds of thousands, if not millions, were killed by the Heat Rays. Meanwhile, over five million people are homeless, missing, or killed due to the craters, and the taking of their blood like the poor curate had received. Now we all wonder what we do next. Do we clean up and prosper from this? Do we emigrate to the U.S. like many Europeans? Do we start from scratch and never remember that this happened? Personally, I want to actually be alone with my wife and brother without fear again.
