We are so excited Heather Kingsley-Heath will be teaching for us May 30th, May 31st and June 1st! You might know Heather from her fabulous Albion stitch books. We will have a limited number of copies available, so if you need to reserve one or both, please do give us a call! Heather Kingsley-Heath is a beadworker living and working in England. Her career began with an honors degree in design and a passion for color. Her first job was as a textile print designer, then craft artist, followed by a move into the publishing industry as both author and editor. Beading began as a curiosity and quickly became her passion. Heather’s love of beads and color is infectious and she has inspired and encouraged many budding designers. For six years Heather was editor of the Beadworkers Guild Journal, a quarterly magazine for Guild members. During that time she worked with, interviewed, and commissioned many bead artists and designers. She continues as a Guild member and will be hosting the Masterclass at the Great British Bead Show event in 2013. Heather’s work is delicate, richly detailed, and infinitely wearable. Often inspired by history, heritage, vintage, and treasure, her work explores the relationships between wearer and object; many pieces have hidden areas to contain a personal treasure, votive, prayer or wish. Heather is also known for her more experimental figurative and sculptural pieces which combine a huge range of seed beading techniques to create three-dimensional pieces such as a snail on a leaf, or scorpion stalking a butterfly as seen in the recent on-line Battle of the Beadsmith. Heather is the creator of Albion stitch, a new beading technique, and has published two books on the stitch with a third, and much anticipated, book now in production. Her work has been featured in Perlen Poesie, Beadwork, Bead and many other magazines. As a tutor, Heather is a kind, patient, lively, and inspiring teacher, generous with her design processes and techniques. She is booked for workshops and classes regularly in the UK and overseas. She writes and publishes her work as books, kits, and patterns as well as creating pieces to commission.
