We are so happy to present the Stella Maris statue! Stella Maris is Latin for “Star of the Sea.” It is an ancient description of the Blessed Virgin Mary as the spiritual guide for seafarers and for those seeking solace and protection on long journeys. It began in the creative mind of artist Sabra Eagan, a Jefferson City native whose work has earned international acclaim. In 2005, Sabra Eagan was commissioned by an anonymous donor to produce the sculpture as a gift to the new St. Mary’s Hospital. We are pleased to have it here in time for the new hospital to open. It’s a beautiful piece of artwork with a beautiful story! Thank you to everyone involved!
