We are so proud of all our young competitors at this weekends Ulster Fleadh. We took places in some of the most sought after solo competitions. In U-12 Tin Whistle Iarla Mc Mahon took 3rd place and was recommended thru to the All Ireland competition in Sligo. Iarla will also be competing in the U-12 English Ballads having also secured 3rd Place in that competition too. Winner of the U-12 English Ballads was Pearse Larkin. Pearse also won the U-12 Irish Ballads and pipped Tiarnan Conway for 2nd place. Darragh Conway will represent An Bonnán Buí in the U-12 Mandolin after he took 2nd place in Ulster. Dearbhla Daly was also placed 3rd in U-12 Ladies English Ballads and sister Niamh secured 2nd place on Sunday in the U-18 Ladies English Ballads. A very special mention of commendation was given to Pearse Og Mc Mahon in the U-12 Button Accordion competition. Adjudicator Ned Kelly from Tipperary remarked that ...at just 8 years old, he has ability beyond his years and I dont doubt Ill be seeing plenty of him in the future. He represents everything that is great about Irish Traditional music. Well done everybody and our sincerest thanks go to the tutors for all their hard work and the parents who keep all the boys and girls at their practice.
