We are tired of their over 15 years of failed promises and apologies. It is very clear to any discerning and dispassionately honest Nigerian that the intractable energy crisis we have in Nigeria today and which has become an annual ritual is nurtured and fueled by the twin demons of corruption and incompetency on the part of those in power, who are saddled with the task of fashioning out a lasting and all inclusive energy policies that can deliver this nation from over 40 years of darkness. It is estimated at the last count that a whopping sum of USD51billion has been sunk into the power sector of Nigeria over the last 3 decades with nothing to show for it except gross darkness all over the land. Not only do we lack the institutional mechanism to fight corruption comprehensively in Nigeria, we are perennially saddled with continuously putting round pegs in square holes. The only way we can start checkmating corruption in Nigeria is to remove all those transmission mechanisms that glaringly hand over a greater share of our commonwealth to the few kleptomaniacs in power and their cronies. We must put the right people in the right public offices to do the right jobs that we all desire. We must develop an energy policy that is all inclusive, unique to Nigeria and tailored towards areas and technologies where we have comparative advantages with regards to energy production medium and feed-stocks. Unfortunately, we are predominantly saddled with maximum rulers at all the levels and tiers of government who do not have a clear understanding of the right ways to follow. Is it not in our very presence that a very hands on experienced, knowledgeable, practicing and entrepreneurial Barth Nnaji was removed and replaced as minister of power with one Professor Nebo, whose only claim to power sector expertise was being former Vice-Chancellor of University of Nigeria Nsukka and curbing of cultism in the University. He promised us that he will chase away all the demons in the power sector within 6 months. Abeg how long has he been there as the power minister? Is it up to six months? Barth Nnaji was clearly on the right course. Every Nigerian attested to the glaring improvement in Power supply in Nigeria while he was at the helm of affairs as the power minister. For whatever reasons known to the establishment they removed him and in came the exorcist. The rest they say is history. We are fully enjoying 24 hours power supply now eekwa? We are all architects of our problems. We do not ask the right questions as a people. Majority of us are driven by hysteria, mob frenzy, clannishness, religious and ethnic affiliations, kindred considerations, cowardly dispositions and all other primordial interests that beclouds our better sense of reasoning. No man can provide credible solutions to problems he do not even understand in the first place no matter his level of erudition, academic background, profession, cerebral content and command of the English grammar. 2015 is around the corner. We should all bend down to review the state of Nigeria and ask the right questions to all these gladiators prancing around and seeking for one political office or the other. Removal of Barth Nnaji and replacing him with a university Professor who do not even understand the deep rooted challenges and intricacies of the power sector is a clear example of putting a square peg in a round hole. No matter how educated, well intentioned and honest Professor Nebo is, as long as he does not have practical knowledge and experiences of how the power sector works, he can never get it right. Integrity without skills is a recipe for disaster. Skills without integrity breeds corruption. Skills must be combined with integrity to achieve excellent results. Today, I like most Nigerians run my genset for over 20 hours a day, a worse departure from the days when Barth Nnaji was in-charge. Ndi Igbo siri na ukpara ukpoko gburu, nti chiri ya. WE ARE ON THE MARCH AGAIN TOWARDS 2015! THIS TIME AROUND, IF WE TRULY DESIRE CHANGES IN NIGERIA, THEN, WE MUST ELECT CREDIBLE, PASSIONATELY INNOVATIVE, TRANSPARENT,AND SKILLFUL NIGERIANS WITH PROVEN CAPACITIES, COMPETENCIES AND CHARACTER TO DO THE RIGHT JOBS AT THE DIFFERENT LEVELS AND TIERS OF GOVERNMENT IN NIGERIA. NNAEMEKA ONYEKA OBIARAERI HAS GRACIOUSLY PUT HIS HAT IN THE RING TO REPRESENT THE GOOD PEOPLE OF OKIGWE ZONE IN THE SENATE OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA IN 2015. I DO HOPE WE HAVE ALL LEARNT OUR LESSONS FROM THE PAST MISTAKES OF THE LAST 14 YEARS. IT IS ALL ABOUT NEW THINKING, NEW IDEAS, NEW AND POSITIVE WAYS OF DOING THINGS. IT IS MAKEOVER 2015, AKA CHUKWU DI YA. THERE IS NO SITTING ON THE FENCE FOR ANYONE, CAST YOUR SUPPORT NOW. SHALOM.
