We are urging parents to have conversations with your students about the Yik Yak app. This app was designed for students ages 18 and older on college campuses, but has been downloaded by younger students causing much harm across the nation. Some students have posted unkind comments and the app is now blocked from our school with a geofence. Please take time to talk with your teen about the social media apps he or she is using and the severe consequences that could potentially arise from posting comments even when students feel they are anonymous. All posts can be tracked by law officials with the users IP address. We are encouraging all students to only put information on social media that is positive and reflects goodwill toward others. Thank you.
