We are very excited to welcome Ju Jitsu Black Belt Ciaran McLoughlin to our studio commencing the week after next. Classes will be on Thursday evening at 7pm and Saturday morning at 10am. Full details to follow soon. Ciarán McLoughlin, is the chief instructor at the Atemi Ju Jitsu Association, he has been training in the martial arts and self defence for over 15 years, during this time he has reached the level of second dan black belt. He believes that martial arts are an excellent way for students to develop interpersonal skills in communication and teamwork as well as independence and self discipline. From all of his club members, a high level of commitment and dedication is expected but he understands the importance of tailoring lessons to meet the specific need of his students, whether this be at beginner or advanced level. When he is not practicing Ju Jitsu, Ciarán is a keen cyclist, he loves spending time with his family and walking his two dogs. Club Information Junior 1 Class (Ages 5 - 7) Kid friendly Introduction to Atemi Ju Jitsu Some basic throws Ground work (No locking, choking, strangling etc.) Katas (simple forms to help them practice blocking and striking) Basic street defence stuff - Defend a lapel grab, defend a bop on the nose etc.. Belt Grading system - White - Red - Yellow - Orange - Green - Blue - Blue White - Purple - Purple White - Brown (No black belts at this level) Junior 1 Class (Ages 7 - 13) A little bit more advanced then the Junior class Throws and Japanese names for throws Ground work (Hold and chokes but no joint locking) Katas (simple forms to help them practice blocking and striking) Basic street defence stuff but including atemis (Atemi means strike) Belt Grading system - White - Yellow - Orange - Green - Blue - Blue White - Purple - Purple White - Brown - Brown with tabs - Black Senior Class (13+) Throws Grappling and chancery (Think greco roman wrestling or sambo) Takedowns Street defence techniques (Defending strikes, kicks, strangles, knife attacks etc.) Groundwork Locks, holds, chokes and strangles Striking techniques (Some pad work) Belt Grading system - White - Yellow - Orange - Green - Blue - Purple - Brown - Brown with tabs - Black Theres a load more info on our site which you can access here... atemijujitsu.org.uk
