We are very pleased to bring you new work by SBG photographer, Natalie Nesser! The exhibition is called “The Sea” and is part of a series of Scapes, Land, City and Sea. Taken in California, the photographs are wonderfully representative of the area of coastline around San Francisco. Natalie connects with the beach on many levels but specifically appreciates how non-judgmental it is. It accepts all. It also grounds people in ways that other places can’t. When one first gets to the beach, takes off one’s shoes and feel the sand between one’s toes – there are few better feelings. Nothing between oneself and nature, no floor, no road, no barrier – just complete connection. Each day the wind, waves and tides reshape the canvas, washing away the past. There is no constant, except change. The sea can also unleash unbelievable power when the raging storms thrash against the coast. This power, while daunting, is also mesmerising. Standing on the rocks looking out at giant waves rolling in one can be lost in sheer awe, like a witness to creation. The sea is also a metaphor for life. Some days are rough, some smooth - the tide rising, reaching its peak and then slowly moving back out until it all starts again - a new generation. We are very happy to bring this kind of quality work to London.
