We are very pleased to share that two of our second year students, Christina Galanou and Chrystalla Koufopavlou, are among the 6 finalists of the Sukkahville2013 international design competition in Toronto, Canada (sukkahville/). The competition invited architects, students, artists, builders and allied design professionals to submit their design proposals for the third annual Sukkahville Design Competition. The aim of the open competition was to design a temporary, freestanding Sukkah for the holiday of Sukkot. Six winning designs were chosen by a select high profile jury to be constructed in a visionary village on Mel Lastman Square from September 22nd to September 24th 2013. Additional Prizes will also be awarded for 1st Place, 2nd Place and People’s Choice Awards. Sukhaville 2013 competition brief and deliverables were used as part of the ARCH 262 - Advanced Computer Aided Design requirements, and all students were encouraged to submit their projects developed during the course for the competition. All participating teams received very good comments on their proposals. It is undoubtedly a significant international recognition for Cyprus, the University of Nicosia, the Department and Faculty of Architecture [ARC] but above all a life-time experience for the Students. We are therefore working over the summer to assist in preparing, travelling and realizing the pavilion in Toronto, Canada! We would like to thank everybody who is helping towards realizing the project!
