We are very, very happy to report two pieces of wonderful news from the General Assembly meeting of our denomination. 1. Effective immediately Presbyterian Pastors are officially permitted to officiate marriages of whomever their consciences permit in states that have marriage equality. 2. The assembly voted by greater than a 2 to 1 margin to change our constitution to define marriage as between two people (rather than a man and a woman). That change will need to be ratified by the presbyteries. This is an historic day in our denomination and we can be joyful and proud.
