We are watching a powerful storm system that is expected to bring heavy wet snow to the area starting tonight. Snow will develop over the western mountains Tonight and spread eastward through the day on Thursday. The biggest impact with this storm is the potential for widespread power outages due to tree and power line damage from the weight of the snow. Road and ground temperatures remain warm so most areas will see wet to slushy road conditions. However during heavier bursts of snow and in elevated locations and passes snow will stick and cause difficult to impossible travel conditions. With temperatures hovering around the freezing point there will be significant variability in snow accumulations over lower elevation locations.
