We arrived at Sandal Castle,Wakefield. The castle was an estate owned by Richard Duke of York back then and was where hed gone to on his March north recruiting conscripts under his commissions of array as he went. His Vanguard had accidentally come across the Duke of Somersets Rearward at Worksop on the way and had a skirmish prior to arriving at Sandal. The Lancastrians were using Pontifract castle as a base and it was believed over at least 3 times the size of Sandal castle, and so more troops could be accommodated there.
