We arrived in Dubai at an e-a-r-l-y hour this morn - far too early for our hotel rooms to be ready, so what to do but go swimming? Magical, like South Africa. But I dont think I want to put up a pic of Jen In Cozzie - just too scary n uncool. :) Then off on a city tour which started at the Museum (well worth a visit!) - pic of me. (And this is the pathetic thing: I always think Im gi-normous. Then I see a pic like this and think, Silly!!) Then a ride across Dubai Creek (big river, not a drippy little creek at all!) in a dhow (or was it an abra?), and a wander through the souk (market) in Deira, the old part of town. Where 2 things struck us: we ate camel milk chocolate (pic), and I came across a wonder of a suitcase - WHY would one fuss with a bright pink case such as I have when theres a purple spotty one to be had??? (Also a pic) From there to Jumeirah, the Beverly Hills of Dubai. Theres a pic of Sheryl n moi in front of the Burj Al Arab, the most expensive hotel in the world (the closest well ever get to it). Then, people, I did something extraordinary. I just went for a swim, clothes n all, in the Arabian Gulf!! (The only other time Ive done that was in 1976 at Tunnel Beach in Dunedin and then it was with not a stitch on. Looks totally askance from the boys.) Astonishment amongst the tour group members. I may put up a pic on the morrow. Hopefully not so much shock from sons as was expressed 28 years ago!! (Big smile!). :)
