We arrived in the province on Friday afternoon. Our huge boxes of goodies were here waiting for us to open & distribute the contents. People without electricity were very grateful of the many solar lights we had. Not to mention the chocolate, candy for the kids, school t shirts, clothing etc. Already we have relieved some rice farmers of their huge interest rates. One wanted to pay us 100% interest per year for a loan. We did it for something far more reasonable than that. We have been busy the past 2 days buying building materials to establish the Foundations internet café for students to use. Most of that work has already been done (paying for it tonight - stiff & sore). Our 15 sponsored students loved the school T Shirts, pens, books underwear, chocolate we gave them. going to organise a party for them on Saturday. They are all beautiful kids - would like to bring them all home. One of the old ladies we help (Lucia), had her little house destroyed in the typhoon. She bought some materials, from the monthly money we send her, to repair it but they were stolen. The Sally Blenkhorn Foundation will soon remedy all of that. She is currently living in extreme circumstances but still smiles. A 21 year old boy, two doors from us died on Wed of last week. We arrived 2 days too late as we might well have saved his life for a few dollars. Will upload photos as soon as we can. Supporters of the Foundation should stand very tall & proud. We are having a great impact and have been recognised by everyone here including the Dept of Social Welfare.
