We arrived into Gran Canaria (first sight of Gran Canaria) on Wed - TopicsExpress

We arrived into Gran Canaria (first sight of Gran Canaria) on Wed 22nd October to 30 degree heat, after a 4 day trip from Lagos. The crossing was NOT pleasant due to a large swell for much of the time, making the boat motion pretty uncomfortable. I was ill for 3 out of the 4 days and even Des had a couple of moments. The wind was a bit erratic and when we could we sailed but we had do do a fair bit of motoring to get us into Gran Canaria during daylight on Wednesday (James was booked on a flight out on Thursday). Our home cooked frozen meals seem to work well as it limited the time the chef has to attempt to prepare and cook food, so we will be stocking up over the next few weeks ready for the off. The marina is, as you might expect, pretty busy with ARC and ARC plus boats (going via Cape Verde islands) so we should get to know some other folks over the coming weeks. The other note of interest is that the berths are bow or stern too, so that was a new one on us in Cloud 9 and meant that we had to take Rodney off the stern and generally faff around before we could berth....... it all went very smoothly :) It does mean of course that we can use our v posh paserelle for the first time! (I will add a photo for those not in the know). James treated us to lunch in a quiet square near the Cathedral on Thursday before he flew back home (see photo of the boys) and we then popped into the Cathedral for a nosey....a very peaceful and serene environment, despite the facade looking a bit austere.
