We at the Clay County Historical and Genealogical Society are excited to announce the arrival of our CDs of the 1964 documentary which highlighted Clay County and Manchester on national television. The documentary is in filmed in Black and White, was produced by CBS and narrated by Walter Cronkite. It was shown on the weekly broadcast, Welcome to The Twentieth Century. Many familiar faces and places are highlighted in this flashback to an earlier time. While addressing many of the same issues we face today, Clay Countians are presented as a proud and independent people. This documentary was recently the centerpiece of the Societys thirtieth anniversary celebration and was met with excited chatter, applause, and discussion, as familiar faces and places were once again brought to life onscreen. Downtown, the Health Department, the Courthouse, and local schools are all highlighted, accompanied by interviews with many local residents. Due to the many requests, we are making these CDs available as a fundraiser for the Society. We have approximately fifteen of these left out of our first order. Cost is $15 for each CD. Let us know if you would like a copy!!!!
