We ate a scrumptious meal at Desotos restaurant the other day ... as we were leaving, the kids spotted the gumball machine which peaked their interest greatly. They began to ooh and ahh at the grand assortment of colors. As they were discussing the many thrills associated with gumball chewing, a man and woman came up behind them in the hopes that they might pass by and make their way toward the hostess stand. Paulette and Brayden were completely oblivious to anything that wasnt candy coated and savory, so I politely suggested that they move slightly to their right. Unfortunately, my words fell on deaf ears. The man was giving me a yes youre kids are incredibly cute but please get them the heck out of our way look. In an effort to get the job done quickly, I was forced to raise my voice to the Listen to the words coming out of my mouth volume ... which I normally reserve for birthday parties and barn raisings. The kids reluctantly acquiesced and moved out of the way. I was still a bit perturbed after the couple walked by ... I leaned in to Paulette and I asked, Have you ever been in public before? She cocked a little bit of an attitude with me. She folded her arms and said, Yes, Daddy, I have! She turned around to stomp off and her face slammed right smack into a lady who was making her way toward the restroom. Well, needless to say, I immediately began laughing rather heartily ... once Paulette regained her composure, she started giggling her curly little head off as well. Ive always said that the best comedy comes from real life situations ... if you dont believe me, just watch a white person dance down the line on Soul Train.
