We beckon on Nigerian Authorities, including Electoral Commission (INEC), to enact a law raising the literacy requirement for persons who want to rule this country, to be above Secondary School level. The current requirement of Secondary School Certificate, is not enough for a vast and complex country like Nigeria. One can notice the caliber of persons at the helm of affaires, in advanced countries like: U.S.A., France, Britain. They are persons of sound academic background. They are neither professors nor PhD holders; but are individuals of high integrity. Unlike in Nigeria, virtually all who have ruled are: corrupt, looters and rogues; both juntas and their likes. High sounding educational qualification is no solution to our backwardness: the looting of the treasury, and non-payment of workers and pensioners their entitlements. That somebody has a “Diploma in Warfare”, is inadequate to govern a large and diverse country as Nigeria. It amounts to enthronement of mediocrity these lapses are largely responsible for the atrocities in our land which include; dictatorship, political assassinations, mysterious plane crashes, internal slavery, and local imperialism.
